Paul Signac
Apart from individual portraits and genre paintings, Paul Signac (1863–1935) devoted himself almost exclusively to landscapes. The creator of unique paintings, drawings and watercolors has his roots In Impressionism. Together with Georges Seurat (1859–1891) he invented Pointillism-a painting technique to which he remained true throughout his life. The sea, harbors, ships and beaches became the favorite motifs of the master of color and light. lie painted them on his numerous journeys-in Paris, Normandy, Brittany, in the south of France, but also In Venice and Istanbul.
